Conquer Mt. Kilimanjaro
Marangu Route: The Classic Journey
per person
Duration: 5-6 days
Difficulty: Moderate
Highlights: Comfortable hut accommodations, stunning forest and moorland landscapes
Known as the "Coca-Cola route," Marangu is our most popular path to the summit. You'll sleep in permanent mountain huts rather than tents, making this an excellent choice for first-time trekkers. The route takes you through lush rainforest, across scenic moorland, and finally to the breathtaking glaciers and snow-capped summit.
Day-by-Day Safari Experience
Trek through vibrant rainforest from Marangu Gate to Mandara Huts (2,723m). Spot unique flora and wildlife as your expert guide shares local knowledge during this 4-5 hour journey.
Ascend through heathland dotted with giant lobelias and groundsels to reach Horombo Huts (3,721m). Enjoy spectacular views of Mawenzi peak during your 6-8 hour hike.
Take a rest day at Horombo or explore the surrounding area with a short hike to Mawenzi base camp. This extra day significantly improves your summit success rate.
Trek across the lunar-like saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo Huts (4,714m) during this 6-8 hour day, your final stop before summit night.
Begin your summit attempt between midnight and 2am, reaching Uhuru Peak for a magnificent sunrise over Africa. Descend to Horombo Huts for a well-earned rest after this challenging 10-12 hour day.
Complete your journey with a 6-7 hour descent through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where your summit certificate and a comfortable hotel await.
